has implemented a temporary traffic diversion on Paseo de Extremadura, near Huerta de Castañeda Street, effective from 27 October to 9 November 2026. The underpass is closed to vehicles due to ongoing undergrounding works on the route.
A surface route with one lane per direction is now active as part of the 350 million euro Paseo Verde del Suroeste project. While tunnel excavation is complete, current work focuses on lighting and ventilation before a major connection to Calle 30 starts.
The 3.2km tunnel aims to reconnect neighborhoods divided by 80,000 daily vehicles since 1968. Operations should begin by New Year, though surface urbanization costing 57.8 million euros will continue until the first quarter of 2028 to finish the project.
