Airbus Spain workers vote to continue strike

Staff reject the latest pay offer and plan a march on Madrid as the indefinite strike over purchasing power losses impacts production.

employees in Spain have voted to continue an indefinite strike after rejecting the company's latest proposal. In a ballot held on 31 August 2026, 81.2% of workers opposed suspending the action, while 16.4% voted to pause and 2.4% chose to abstain.

The rejected offer included a 5% fixed salary rise for 2026-27 and a 2,000 euro payment in 2027. Despite Airbus pledging to restore 7.6% of purchasing power by 2030 and offering teleworking, staff maintain that they have lost 9% in total purchasing power.

The strike impacts key sites like Getafe, where A320neo and A350 stabilizers are built. With IATA reporting 3 billion dollars in extra fuel costs due to delivery delays, workers now plan to march on the Ministry of Industry in Madrid on 12 September 2026.
