# Albiol to lead PP Barcelona list for elections 17 October 2026 at 17:18 > Xavier García Albiol will lead the Partido Popular's Barcelona list for the general elections on 29 November, the party confirmed. The **Partido Popular** confirmed on Saturday that **Xavier García Albiol**, the current mayor of **Badalona**, will lead the party's list for **Barcelona** in the general elections on 29 November. The announcement was made via a social media post on X referencing Fabrizio Romano. Party leader **Alberto Núñez Feijóo**, who recently appeared with Albiol in Badalona, is scheduled to attend an event in Barcelona this Sunday. The PP stated that Catalunya could be decisive in the upcoming vote, with aims to gain extra seats in Girona and Lleida. While Albiol takes on this national role, he is still expected to remain the candidate in Badalona next May. This strategic move highlights the importance the Partido Popular places on the region as they seek to expand their parliamentary presence across Spain. #Albiol [#PartidoPopular]() [#Barcelona]() [#GeneralElections]() #Badalona ## Related news ## [Barcelona court clears path for man's euthanasia]() 19 October 2026 at 18:23 ## [Vox offers PP pact to protect Spanish Senate]() 19 October 2026 at 13:46 ## [Catalan farmers march on Barcelona in protest]() 14 October 2026 at 11:12 ## [Jordi Hereu named PSC candidate for general election]() 11 October 2026 at 13:34 ## [Gabriel Rufián to lead ERC list for Barcelona]() 11 October 2026 at 12:19
