Aragon suspends Arabic and Moroccan culture program

The Government of Aragon has halted the Arabic Language and Moroccan Culture Program across ten schools following a PP and Vox agreement.

The Government of Aragon has suspended the Arabic Language and Moroccan Culture Program across ten schools. Vice President , of the party, confirmed the move following a government agreement signed by the PP and Vox on 22 April 2024.

The suspension affects institutions including CEIP Aljafería, Luis Vives, and Tío Jorge, alongside the Cantín y Gamboa and El Carmen y San José colleges. Managed by autonomous communities, the program was coordinated by the Moroccan Embassy and Spain's Ministry.

While the agreement initially set a September 2026 deadline for suppression, Vox has pushed for earlier action. A June 2025 motion in Zaragoza City Council failed to gain support, but the party successfully requested the program's elimination in the Cortes.
