# Barcelona-Madrid high-speed rail suspended

High-speed rail traffic between Barcelona and Madrid is currently suspended in both directions following a fire on an AVE train this afternoon. The service, which departed **Atocha** at 14:27, was forced to stop near **Ricla**, **Zaragoza**, shortly after 16:00 today.

**Renfe** confirmed that 283 passengers were evacuated to a safe area after a small fire broke out in the rear engine. Firefighters attended the scene to extinguish the blaze, and no injuries have been reported. **Adif** is now assessing the impact on the line.

The incident has halted all Iryo and Ouigo services, with no estimated time for restoration. Renfe has activated free refunds and schedule changes for affected travellers. The total interruption remains in place while technical assessments continue at Ricla.
