# Barcelona-Madrid high-speed rail to resume soon

High-speed rail services between **Barcelona** and **Madrid** are expected to resume normal operations early next week following a locomotive fire on 12 October. The blaze near **Ricla**, Zaragoza, caused significant traffic cuts and damaged the local infrastructure.

**Adif** spokesperson **Antonio Carmona** confirmed that technicians are working nightly to remove the affected power car using cranes. While maximum speeds in the 25km single-track section rose to 160km/h on Wednesday, average delays of 15 minutes remain common.

Renfe, Ouigo, and Iryo have cancelled services and adapted schedules while repairs to the overhead lines continue. The restoration of double-track circulation depends on the final removal of the locomotive, as investigators probe the cause of the fire.
