# Electricity prices surpass 200 euro threshold

This marks a 2.6% rise from Monday's average of 196.88 euros. Costs will peak at 281.31 euros between 21:00 and 22:00, with a low of 147.09 euros.

This surge represents the first time the daily average has exceeded the 200 euro threshold since December 2022. It follows a volatile September where prices averaged 143.26 euros per MWh, a 21.1% increase from August and a 134.7% rise compared to September 2025.

The price hike impacts eight million households on the regulated **PVPC** tariff. For 2026, this tariff calculation relies on futures markets for 55% of its reference. Meanwhile, [natural gas](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/natural-gas-q40858>) prices in the **Mibgas** market reached 75.25 euros per MWh on Monday 5 October.
