EU introduces new two-euro fee for non-EU parcels

A new processing fee for packages arriving from outside the EU starts tomorrow to fund customs controls and manage small parcel volumes.

A new processing fee of two euros per shipment for packages arriving from outside the will enter into force on 1 November 2026. This charge is designed to fund and reinforce controls on small parcels entering EU territory.

The fee follows a three-euro customs tariff introduced on 1 July 2026 for goods valued under 150 euros. This tariff applies per item category within a package and must be paid by commercial importers, such as or various postal operators.

Consumer groups CECU and support the measures, which target the estimated 15 million low-value packages previously entering the EU daily. The costs apply only to items shipped from outside the bloc, rather than those already stored in EU warehouses.
