# EU introduces new two-euro import processing fee

5 November 2026 at 13:02

> The European Union has implemented a two-euro processing fee for all non-EU packages to fund enhanced customs security and oversight.

The **European Union** has introduced a two-euro processing fee for all packages originating from outside the community territory, effective from 1 November 2026. This new charge complements a three-euro customs tariff for low-value imports under 150 euros.

The three-euro tariff, active since July 2026, applies per item category within a package. EU law mandates that total final prices must be displayed from the start of the purchase. The **CECU** clarifies that importers, not consumers, are liable for these fees.

These measures aim to fund customs authorities to enhance security controls. The impact is significant in **Spain**, where 91% of home deliveries come from Chinese platforms like **Shein** and **Temu**. The fees ensure stricter oversight of high-volume international trade.
