# Madrid court investigates Sofía Puente for prevarication 21 October 2026 at 13:43 > Judge Inmaculada Lova Ruiz admits a complaint against the Director General regarding expanded nationality criteria under the Memory Law. Madrid's Investigating Court number 35 has admitted a complaint against **Sofía Puente** for alleged administrative prevarication. Judge **Inmaculada Lova Ruiz** is presiding over the case, which was brought by **Hazte Oír** despite opposition from the Public Prosecutor. The legal action targets an instruction drafted by Puente as Director General of Legal Security. This directive expanded the criteria for Spanish nationality under the 2022 **Democratic Memory Law**, allowing descendants of exiles to claim citizenship until 1955. The **Supreme Court** has already suspended voting rights for those who gained nationality via these expanded rules. While prosecutors argued the case was previously dismissed, Hazte Oír must now pay a 1,000 euro bail to proceed against the Transport Minister's sister. #SofiaPuente [#DemocraticMemoryLaw]() [#SpanishNationality]() #MadridCourt #HazteOir ## Related news ## [Spain Court Orders List of 163,020 New Citizens]() 23 October 2026 at 15:43 ## [Spanish Ombudsman appeals voting rights ruling]() 17 October 2026 at 08:39 ## [Court upholds vote ban for 'ley de nietos' heirs]() 12 October 2026 at 20:35 ## [Prosecutor backs CERA census suspension]() 9 October 2026 at 15:11 ## [Spain suspends voting rights for new nationals]() 7 October 2026 at 10:31
