Police evict migrant settlement in Ceuta

Spanish National Police cleared nearly 1,000 Moroccan migrants from the El Guano esplanade on Sunday for processing and relocation.

Spanish National Police launched a major operation on Sunday morning to evict an illegal migrant settlement at the El Guano esplanade in Ceuta. Over twenty Police Intervention Unit vans arrived after 8:00 AM to clear the site of fewer than 1,000 Moroccans.

The group, including 100 minors, moved to El Guano two weeks ago following previous removals of 1,700 people from Benítez and Trampolín beaches. Those evicted are processed at the Temporary Care Center for Foreigners for relocation or formal asylum procedures.

This deployment follows a mass entry in July and ongoing attempts to reach the mainland via recreational boats. Migrants facing final asylum denials will receive five-year expulsion orders, as authorities continue to manage the 3,500 people initially present.
