# Red alert for extreme rain in Tarragona

> Spain's weather agency Aemet warns of extreme rainfall in Tarragona as a cold front prepares to sweep across the country this week.

Spain's weather agency [Aemet](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/state-meteorological-agency-q2826727>) has issued a red alert for [Tarragona](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/tarragona-q15088>) this Tuesday, 29 September. The warning, active from 06:00 until 14:59, forecasts extreme rainfall exceeding 180 litres per square metre within a period of just three to six hours.

Orange alerts for rain and storms affect [Catalonia](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/catalonia-q5705>), the Valencian Community, and Galicia, while yellow wind warnings cover Asturias and Cantabria. This follows Monday's rainfall of 123 litres in Guijo de Granadilla and 73 litres recorded in Requena.

Aemet spokesperson **Rubén del Campo** notes temperatures will hit 34C in [Sevilla](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/seville-q8717>) today before a cold front arrives Wednesday. By Thursday, northern regions like Oviedo will see a 6C drop to 18C, though southern areas will maintain highs of 33C.
