# Renfe train drivers to strike this Thursday 26 October 2026 at 16:58 > The Semaf union calls for industrial action over safety concerns, leading the Ministry of Transport to mandate minimum service levels. The **Semaf** union has called for a train drivers' strike at **Renfe** this Thursday, prompting the **Ministry of Transport** to establish minimum service levels. Under these mandates, 73% of AVE and Avlo high-speed services and 65% of Media Distancia trains will run. Cercanías commuter trains will operate at 75% capacity during peak hours, defined as 06:00-09:00, 13:30-15:30, and 18:30-20:30, falling to 50% for the remainder of the day. The industrial action follows fatal accidents in **Adamuz** and **Gelida** earlier this year. Semaf cites non-compliance with February safety agreements, demanding new hires and better weather protocols. Renfe argues these claims exceed its competence, noting the issues were not included in the July collective agreement and involve external factors.
