> ERC candidate Gabriel Rufián apologises for the failure to form a cohesive left-wing front ahead of the upcoming November elections.

**Gabriel Rufián**, the **Esquerra Republicana** candidate for Congress, has admitted that a unity agreement for the alternative left is now almost impossible. Speaking to 'El món a RAC1' on Friday, he apologised for the failure to secure a cohesive left-wing front.

The candidate revealed he considered resigning on 15 October. Rufián claims ERC leadership, under **Oriol Junqueras**, doubts his ability to lead an anti-fascist front. He blamed ecosocialist leaders for blocking collaboration, despite efforts by **Ada Colau**.

Seeking a real front in Madrid, Rufián cited **Lluís Companys** regarding the fascist threat. He remains the candidate for the 29 November elections, though he expressed a desire for a stronger understanding between Esquerra Republicana and the Comuns party.
