# Spain faces weekend of storms and heavy rainfall

**Spain** faces a weekend of meteorological contrasts following orange warnings in **Almeria** and **Murcia**. **Aemet** recorded rainfall of 30 litres per square metre per hour on Wednesday, while a retrograde DANA brought temperatures of -25C at altitudes of 5,500 metres.

On Saturday, an Atlantic storm front will reach **Galicia**, Castilla y Leon, and Extremadura. Instability persists across the Mediterranean, Baleares, and North African territories, while the Canary Islands brace for the possibility of very strong storm activity.

By Sunday, Atlantic systems may extend rain to northern Spain as Mediterranean intensity fades. These fronts could bring widespread rainfall early next week, coinciding with a local holiday in Madrid on Monday, as moisture continues to flow from Europe.
