> Spain schedules general elections for 29 November as the government manages pension revaluations and Social Security funding transfers.

**Spain** is preparing for general elections on 29 November, with the new Parliament set to be constituted on 23 December. Amidst the campaign, the Social Security system received 35,583 million euros in transfers during the first half of 2026 to support funds.

Economy Minister **Carlos Cuerpo** announced a royal decree-law for December to manage pension updates. Under Article 58, contributory pensions must be revalued annually based on the average CPI, though Spanish law strictly prohibits any reduction in payments.

Political leaders remain divided on future reforms. **Alberto Núñez Feijóo** pledged CPI-linked increases, while **José María Figaredo** proposed a shift toward individual capitalization. Meanwhile, **Montse Mínguez** resigned following a real estate scandal involving her partner.
