The summer saw 102 million road trips, a 1.5 per cent rise from 2025. While July fatalities fell by five to 110, August recorded a significant spike with 130 deaths, 15 more than the prior year. These provisional statistics cover the entire summer operation. Deaths among vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, fell by 12 per cent. Motorcyclist fatalities dropped by 18 to a total of 54.
