The Spanish Ministry of Interior has requested urgent support from **Frontex** and **Europol** to manage irregular migration in **Ceuta**. Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska communicated the request to Beate Gminder on August 28, following a letter sent on August 21. Spain seeks ten additional Frontex agents for triage tasks and assistance from the EUAA for interviews. The request includes extending Operation Minerva beyond September 2 and keeping the vessel Duque de Ahumada in Spanish waters throughout the year 2027. The measures aim to reinforce migrant file processing and border surveillance via EUROSUR satellite imagery. Enhanced cooperation with Europol is also sought to tackle smuggling networks, with triage activities conducted electronically due to space limits. ## Related news [#Ceuta]() [#Spain]() [#Migration]() [#SupremeCourt]() [#PedroSánchez]() 27 October 2026 at 12:50 ## [Court rejects Ceuta's urgent migrant return bid]() > The Spanish Supreme Court has denied Ceuta's request for an immediate migrant expulsion plan following a mass entry of 70,000 people.
