# Spanish Court orders ministers to list voters

> The Supreme Court has given ministers until 28 October to identify 163,000 individuals affected by the 'law of grandchildren' voting issue.

The Spanish **Supreme Court** has ordered Justice Minister **Félix Bolaños** and Foreign Minister **José Manuel Albares** to provide a list of 163,000 individuals affected by the 'law of grandchildren' whose voting rights are suspended. The deadline is 3:00 PM on 28 October.

The **Ministry of Justice** claims it provided digitized registry data on 15 October. However, reports show only 31,390 cases have been reviewed, with just 91 certificates issued. The government plans to reiterate instructions to consuls to provide documentation.

Failure to comply with the five-day deadline could result in a 1,000-euro fine for the ministers. This legal dispute precedes the general election on 29 November 2026, following the **Constitutional Court**'s rejection of an appeal filed by the Ombudsman.
