> Magistrate José María Macías proposes dismissing Jordi Turull's appeal against the Supreme Court's refusal to apply the amnesty law.

Spain's Constitutional Court will hold a plenary session on 22 September to address the first appeal against the amnesty law. Magistrate José María Macías, acting as rapporteur, has drafted a proposal to dismiss the appeal filed by politician [Jordi Turull](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/jordi-turull-q17037054>).

Turull challenged the Supreme Court's refusal to apply the amnesty to his disqualification, citing a violation of judicial protection. Macías argues the court's embezzlement interpretation was not arbitrary, as leaders gained benefit by using public funds.

The draft maintains the conviction remains valid, noting the ruling falls within reasonable margins of predictability. It rejects claims regarding political representation rights, stating his disqualification stems from a final criminal conviction from 2019.
