# Spanish farmers plan Madrid tractor protest

> Agricultural unions will demonstrate in Madrid on 28 October to protest rising costs and demand stronger policy protections for farmers.

Spanish agricultural unions **Asaja**, **COAG**, and **Unión de Uniones** have announced a major tractor demonstration in Madrid on 28 October. Protesters will gather outside the [Ministry of Agriculture](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/ministry-of-agriculture-spain-q3032313>) under the slogan 'We produce your food, we deserve to live from our work'.

The demonstration targets rising production costs, specifically agricultural diesel prices, and non-compliance with the Chain Law. Organisers are also demanding a stronger Common Agricultural Policy, reduced bureaucracy, and protection against third-country competition.

The **UPA** union will not participate, choosing to postpone state-level action until after the 29 November elections. UPA argues the current electoral process limits government action and plans to present its proposals directly to political parties for their manifestos.
