> Spain's annual inflation rate reached its highest level since 2023 as rising energy costs offset falling fuel and food price pressures.

The **INE** has reported an advanced CPI figure of 4.9% for **October 2026**, marking the highest inflation level since February 2023. This rate remains unchanged from the previous month, despite shifting price pressures across several key sectors of the economy.

Downward pressure was driven by falling fuel and lubricant prices for personal vehicles, which had rebounded in October 2025. Food prices rose more slowly than last year, while gas and liquid fuels saw higher increases. Tourist packages also fell less sharply.

**Core inflation**, which excludes volatile unprocessed foods and energy products, is estimated at 3.1% for October 2026. These figures highlight a complex economic landscape where rising energy costs are being partially offset by cheaper transport fuels.
