Partnering with **WeRide** and Avomo, the project involves mapping the city and deploying twenty vehicles for short journeys across high-demand areas. The current phase focuses on mapping, route validation, and service preparation. While these cars can intervene to avoid accidents, a specialist driver will remain on board initially. Madrid marks the fourth city where Uber and WeRide are now operating. Uber expects to launch a commercial testing service by the end of 2026. This initiative is part of a broader strategic goal to expand autonomous operations to 15 cities by 2030, significantly advancing self-driving transport within the Community of Madrid. ## Related news [#Madrid]() #Travel #CondeNastTraveller #SpainTourism #PradoMuseum 5 November 2026 at 17:03 ## [Madrid named among world's best cities for 2026]() > Madrid ranks 17th in the Condé Nast Traveller Reader's Choice Awards, attracting a record 6.6 million foreign visitors so far this year. #SpainElections2026 [#GeneralElection]() [#Madrid]() #Seville #PollingStations 4 November 2026 at 13:12 ## [Spanish councils draw polling station members]() > City councils complete lotteries to select citizens for the November 29 general elections, with notifications due by November 7.
