> Protesters clashed with police at Valencia's Real Estate Summit following the rejection of housing decrees by the Congress of Deputies.

A major housing rights demonstration took place in central [Valencia](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/valencia-q8818>) on Saturday, 3 October 2026. Starting at 11:00 at Porta de la Mar, the march concluded at the [Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/palau-de-les-arts-reina-sofia-q747342>), where the Real Estate Summit 2026 for investors was being held.

Clashes erupted as protesters breached a police cordon to enter the venue. Anti-riot agents deployed rubber bullets and pepper gas after participants used fences to block their advance. The event was convened by groups including [Sindicat de Llogateres](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/tenants-union-of-catalonia-q84259430>).

The unrest follows the [Congress of Deputies](<https://spainnews.co.uk/entity/congress-of-deputies-q539149>) rejecting two government housing decrees on Friday. Spokesperson **Andrea Leixos** has now called for strike committees to be formed, aiming for a general strike in mid-November to protest ongoing market speculation.
