> Santiago Abascal proposes a formal agreement with the Partido Popular to counter a left-wing coalition ahead of the November elections.

**Vox** president **Santiago Abascal** offered a formal agreement to the **Partido Popular** on Monday, 19 October 2026, to protect the Senate. The proposal follows the confirmation of a left-wing coalition for the upper house, announced on the morning of 17 October.

Abascal delivered his statement without media presence after posting about the left-wing pact on X. Secretary general **Ignacio Garriga** previously noted that all options remained open, though a joint list with the PP was not discussed during the weekend.

The move precedes the 29 November election as Vox seeks to counter **Pedro Sánchez**'s deals with the far left. Vox currently holds five senators via regional designation, having failed to secure any seats during the 2023 general elections through the ballot.
