More than 1.6 million points of sale in Spain now accept face-to-face Bizum payments, representing 75% of the nation's bank terminals. The progressive rollout across shops, bars and restaurants began on 18 May, supported by over 25 major retail chains.
The service is operational for 20 million people, or 60% of total users. Since 14 July, the Bizum Pay app for Android and iOS has enabled in-person purchases via bank apps or digital wallets. As of 21 September 2026, the app supports English and co-official languages.
General director Ángel Nigorra oversees a platform where users now average three weekly shop payments. This growth follows a significant 2025 trend, which saw an average of over 3.4 million instant transfers processed daily across the Spanish payment market.
