CEOE labels proposed housing strike inadmissible

The CEOE business confederation challenges the legality of a potential general strike by unions over housing policy and wage increases.

The CEOE has issued a statement describing a proposed general strike by labor unions CC.OO. and UGT as inadmissible. The business confederation argues the mobilization aims to transfer the costs of legislative and budgetary housing changes onto companies.

President Antonio Garamendi claims the strike is not legal, stating unions may only call actions for labor-related reasons. The CEOE maintains the objectives fall outside company management scope, noting the call is pending ratification without a formal date.

The unions seek wage increases between 4% and 7% alongside housing access clauses in the future AENC agreement. This dispute precedes the November 29 elections, with the CEOE questioning the legal validity of using industrial action for housing policy.
