The Court of Instruction number 31 of Barcelona has concluded its investigation into Glovo CEO Óscar Pierre. The judge has granted all parties ten days to submit briefs before the case proceeds to trial regarding alleged crimes against workers' rights.
The case, initiated by the Prosecutor's Office, claims Glovo employs delivery drivers as false self-employed workers. Despite a 2020 Supreme Court ruling affirming a labour relationship, the judge states Glovo continues to maintain the same work structure.
Workers lack independent organisation, operating via a digital platform that dictates service terms and pricing. Although Pierre announced a new hiring model in December 2024, he remains under investigation for failing to recognise formal employment status.
