Minister of Youth and Children Sira Rego has confirmed that between 500 and 700 unaccompanied minors are currently living on the streets of Ceuta. This follows a significant influx in July, with over 2,000 minors now identified within state protection systems.
The Spanish government has approved a 90 million euro transfer to support Ceuta, where the local PP-led administration holds legal competence. Minister Ángel Víctor Torres noted that while many stay, between 150 and 200 migrants return to Morocco voluntarily daily.
A 2025 reform of the Immigration Law now mandates solidarity for migrant relocation across Spain's autonomous communities. Despite processing 600 files for minors before July 30, Rego stated that no response has yet been received from Moroccan authorities.
