King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are scheduled to stay overnight in Ceuta on 13 October 2026, following Spanish National Day. The King becomes the first Spanish Head of State to sleep in the city, which shares an 8km border with Morocco, since Alfonso XIII.
The visit, not communicated to King Mohamed VI, follows a mass immigrant crossing on 30 July. The royal couple will receive the city keys at 12:30 PM before visiting Vicente Alexandre school and the Sidi Embarek cemetery for an ecumenical act for 80 migrants.
Felipe VI has sought this trip for 12 years, previously facing blocks from Mariano Rajoy and Pedro Sánchez. While Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares confirmed the timing, the government team will not accompany the royals for the King's speech at the Parador.
