Macron to visit Spain for state visit in September

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Spain on 29 and 30 September for a gala dinner and official talks with PM Pedro Sánchez.

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to conduct a formal state visit to the Kingdom of Spain on 29 and 30 September. The Spanish Government Presidency confirmed the dates on Monday, 14 September 2026, noting that Brigitte Macron will also attend.

The trip follows an invitation issued by King Felipe VI in 2018, which has faced multiple postponements over the intervening years. During the stay, the Kings of Spain will host a gala dinner for the President, marking a significant diplomatic engagement.

On 30 September, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will receive President Macron at La Moncloa for official talks. This high-level meeting aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations following the long-delayed acceptance of the royal invitation.
