Police dismantle burglary gangs in Madrid and Catalonia

Eight people have been arrested following a joint operation by the Civil Guard and Mossos d'Esquadra targeting daytime villa robberies.

The Civil Guard and Mossos d'Esquadra have dismantled two criminal groups responsible for a series of home burglaries across Madrid and Catalonia. Eight individuals, six men and two women, were arrested for robbery, forgery, and criminal group membership.

Operating from Catalonia, the suspects targeted villa developments during the day. Men forced windows to steal jewelry, watches, and cash while women acted as lookouts. Four arrests occurred in Madrid, where agents recovered stolen items in a temporary flat.

The joint investigation, active since August, revealed the groups committed up to four robberies daily using false documents. While eight are in custody, the operation remains open as police continue to investigate further links and potential new arrests.
