The Partido Popular has requested that the Ministers of Interior, Defence, and Foreign Affairs appear in the Senate. Led by spokesperson Alicia García, the party is using its absolute majority to summon Fernando Grande-Marlaska, Margarita Robles, and José Manuel Albares.
The summons follows the ministers' failure to attend the Senate in August to discuss the Ceuta migrant crisis, despite appearing in Congress. The Supreme Court previously rejected a PP request to force these appearances, ruling that delays would not impact the information's value.
Senate commission presidents will now coordinate with ministries to set firm dates for these sessions. This move ensures government accountability regarding the late July mass entry of immigrants into Ceuta as the ordinary parliamentary period begins this September.
