The Ministry of Health, led by Mónica García, has launched the second phase of Plan VEO, providing direct aid of up to 100 euros for glasses and contact lenses. The initiative, supported by President Pedro Sánchez, is aimed at children under 16 years old.
A new 23 million euro allocation brings the total budget to 73 million euros until December 2027. Children aged five or younger require a prescription, while those six or older can visit one of 7,803 participating opticians to measure visual correction.
The plan covers basic frames, organic lenses, or contact lenses with maintenance. If costs exceed 100 euros, users pay the difference. Having already benefited 454,650 files, the scheme allows for a second claim once 365 days have passed since acquisition.
