The Civil Guard has arrested a 51-year-old British man on the Orihuela coast in Alicante. The individual, who is one of the UK's twelve most wanted fugitives, was sentenced to eight and a half years for fraud and money laundering before fleeing to Spain.
Officers from the Alicante Civil Guard's homicide and fugitives team located the man during a murder investigation. A search of his home uncovered 22,000 euros in cash and several forged identity documents, leading to an additional charge of document forgery.
The suspect has been transferred to the Audiencia Nacional for extradition proceedings. This marks the second high-profile arrest in Alicante since May, following the capture of another individual from the UK's most wanted list during a drug trafficking raid.
