Spain's DGT has launched a special traffic operation for the Pilar long weekend, running from 15:00 on Friday until midnight Monday. With October 9 a holiday in Valencia, 5.7 million road trips are expected, averaging 1.44 million journeys every day.

The Civil Guard and aerial units are deploying radars, helicopters, and drones to monitor speed, seatbelts, and mobile phone use. Roadworks and sports events are suspended, while truck restrictions apply. A distraction surveillance campaign remains active.

Congestion is forecast for Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, and Monday evening. The V-16 beacon is mandatory for breakdowns. Victims can access the 018 support service in 50 languages, while live traffic updates are available via dgt.es and the 011 line.
