Early retirement rules for high-risk professions

Social Security official Alfonso Muñoz outlines how specific sectors can access full pension benefits early under Article 206 regulations.

Social Security official Alfonso Muñoz has highlighted provisions under Article 206 of the General Law of Social Security regarding early retirement. The legislation permits specific professional sectors to retire early without incurring standard economic penalties.

The regulation applies to roles classified as exceptionally painful, dangerous, toxic, or unhealthy, alongside jobs with high morbidity or mortality rates. Identified groups include the maritime, mining, and aviation sectors, plus State Security Forces and Bodies.

This legal framework is significant as ordinary early retirement typically involves reduced pension benefits. By meeting these criteria, eligible workers can access their full entitlements earlier, bypassing the financial reductions faced by the general workforce.
