Local Police in Malaga are investigating a school bus driver for a road safety crime after he was found to be nine times over the legal alcohol limit. The driver, who had just finished transporting minors, recorded a breathalyzer result of 1.39mg/l on 11 September.
The bus company alerted authorities at 17:20 when the driver arrived at the Malaga garage showing signs of intoxication. Witnesses reported erratic driving and nonsensical maneuvers, while a colleague found the driver had urinated and defecated inside the bus.
The driver, who served schools in Benalmadena, was read his rights but not arrested following the voluntary test. He has been summoned for a speedy trial. The legal limit for professional drivers is 0.15mg/l, making this a significant breach of safety laws.
