Mother reports alleged assault at Mollerussa school

A formal complaint has been filed against Les Arrels school staff for the alleged physical restraint of an eight-year-old boy with ASD.

A mother has filed a formal complaint with the Mossos d'Esquadra alleging that staff at Les Arrels school in Mollerussa physically assaulted her eight-year-old son. The third-grade student, who has ASD and ADHD, was reportedly restrained and locked in a yard.

Rosa Tubella claims her son was held by his arms and denied prescribed crisis medication despite the school holding specific medical instructions. The incident, which saw the boy break a door's glass, began when an educator intervened to stop him throwing a sharpener.

Education officials have referred the case to legal services but declined further comment pending the police investigation. Ms Tubella has obtained a medical report of injuries from a local health centre after the school contacted both the family and the police.
