The National Police and Civil Guard have dismantled illegal housing networks in Ceuta following a mass entry of migrants on 30 and 31 July. Two individuals were arrested for charging up to 900 euros monthly for space in garages and other makeshift areas.
A separate operation saw a couple detained for housing 25 migrants, including six minors, in a 15-square-metre basement. Victims paid up to 300 euros each per month, or 60 euros daily in El Pr incipe, with extra fees for food, blankets, and phone charging.
Authorities also uncovered a hair salon employing irregular migrants and a group charging 9,000 euros for sea crossings. The suspects allegedly used death threats and coercion to silence victims, who relied on funds sent by families in Morocco to survive.
