Renfe cancels Euromed trains amid red alerts

Renfe suspends three long-distance services between Catalonia and Valencia as Aemet issues red weather alerts for extreme rainfall.

Renfe has suspended three long-distance Euromed train services between Catalonia and the Valencian Community this Thursday, 1 October 2026. The 16:37 Alicante departure, the 17:04 from Figueres, and the 20:15 from Barcelona have all been cancelled by the operator.

The disruption follows a red alert from Aemet for severe rain and storms in Castellón, Valencia, and Tarragona. Forecasts predict 250 litres per square metre in Castellón and 180 litres in Valencia. Metro Valencia has also implemented partial service reductions.

Renfe is allowing passengers to change or cancel tickets free of charge due to the extreme weather. With rainfall potentially reaching 90 litres per square metre in a single hour, the red alerts remain in place across the affected coastal regions until Friday.
