The Spanish Constitutional Court has rejected a draft ruling by Magistrate José María Macías regarding Jordi Turull's amnesty appeal for embezzlement. A majority of seven magistrates voted against the proposal, while five supported the draft's findings.
The rejected draft supported the Supreme Court's decision to deny amnesty to leaders of the procés. Following this vote, the court, presided over by Cándido Conde-Pumpido, must now draft a new sentence that contradicts the criteria of the original text.
This follows a CJEU ruling that the amnesty law does not harm EU financial interests. Despite this, Magistrate Pablo Llarena has maintained the arrest warrant for Carles Puigdemont, who has remained outside of Spain for nine years following the independence bid.
