Council of Ministers to approve new housing decrees

The Spanish government seeks validation for two housing decrees from the Permanent Deputation following their initial rejection in Congress.

The Council of Ministers is set to approve two housing decrees this Tuesday, following their rejection by the Congress of Deputies last Friday. As the Cortes Generales have been dissolved, these new royal decree-laws must now face a crucial validation vote.

The Permanent Deputation, comprising 68 deputies and the President of the Congress, will decide the fate of the legislation. The body includes 27 PP members, 25 from the PSOE, and six each for Vox and Sumar, alongside single seats for ERC, Bildu and others.

Securing approval depends on the PNV's support, which is considered necessary for the decrees to pass. With Junts having voted against the texts previously and Podemos leading the Mixed Group, the government requires a broad consensus to enact the measures.
