Junts and the PSOE are currently negotiating a royal decree-law to address the housing crisis. On 3 September, Junts delivered a formal proposal to Pedro S!nchez and is now awaiting a counterproposal from the Spanish Government to move the legislation forward.
The proposal includes tax deductions for rent, mortgages, and youth savings accounts. It also seeks to suspend evictions in properties owned by vulture funds, prohibit these funds from purchasing more housing, and allow families to cancel discounted mortgages.
Further measures aim to support the elderly, allowing those over 65 in residences to sell primary homes without IRPF gains. The urgency is highlighted by recent cases, such as the eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen Abascal, which occurred on a Wednesday.
