The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands declared a state of pre-alert in Lanzarote at 07:15 on Saturday, 3 October 2026. A total blackout affected 73,600 customers following a 05:44 failure at the Mácher substation.
The incident began in the 66-kilovolt network in Tías, initially hitting 51,703 users. A second failure at San Bartolomé and Punta Grande caused further generation loss. Endesa reports progressive recovery, with affected numbers falling to 700 by 07:30.
This pre-alert, issued under the PLATECA emergency plan, enables authorities to monitor the situation and coordinate agencies. While Playa Blanca maintained power via Fuerteventura, officials continue to evaluate the impact on all other essential services.
