Emergency services have coordinated the rescue of 189 people from four precarious vessels on the West African route toward the Canary Islands. On Tuesday morning, the Guardamar Urania rescued 38 Maghreb migrants, including three women and two minors, from a wooden boat 5.5 kilometres east of La Graciosa.
On Tuesday afternoon, Salvamento Marítimo intercepted two inflatable boats from Morocco. The Salvamar Acrux assisted 46 men off Punta Mujeres, including three unaccompanied minors, while another vessel carried 43 people. Two individuals required evacuation for health issues, and the groups included 15 unaccompanied minors and one woman.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the Salvamar Urania assisted 62 sub-Saharan migrants, including eight women, after a merchant ship sighted their boat 89 kilometres from Órzola. The group was successfully disembarked in the capital of Lanzarote at 07:22, concluding a series of intensive maritime rescue operations in the region.
