Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has summoned Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government, to a new hearing this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The judge's order specifies that Gómez must attend in person alongside her assistant, Cristina Álvarez, for the session.
The defense has submitted briefs for a jury trial, with Gómez requesting acquittal and denying that she used her status for personal benefit. She maintains that she did not influence the Rector regarding the Extraordinary Chair she directed at the university.
This preliminary hearing is a final step before a trial expected in 2027. Represented by specialist lawyer Jaime Campaner, Gómez claims no crime was committed, despite the Provincial Court of Madrid endorsing the main part of Judge Peinado's investigation.
