The Prosecutor's Office in Ceuta has launched an investigation into alleged abuses at juvenile centres in the Naves de El Tarajal industrial park. Several Moroccan minors fled facilities managed by Samu and Engloba after reporting mistreatment and neglect.
Minors filed police complaints alleging lack of medical care and threats by staff. On 10 September, two security guards reportedly entered a dormitory to threaten sleeping children. A 16-year-old named Yasmine fled with bruises and a back contusion.
Authorities have identified an educator accused of hitting minors, while two security guards were replaced by female staff. The juvenile prosecutor received medical reports on Thursday, as some residents, including a minor named Zineb, returned to Morocco.
