Drone monitors Ceuta border amid migrant influx

Authorities monitor the Morocco border as residents protest a new migrant facility and the World Cup trophy visits the historic centre.

A drone is currently monitoring the border between and amidst heavy fog, while a small flow of people continues through the El Tarajal crossing. Hundreds are gathered at the Loma Colmenar centre, where migrants wear numbered ID bracelets.

Police in masks guard the area near Loma Colmenar as construction begins on a new 900-capacity migrant facility in Los Rosales. Local residents are mobilising to halt this project, which is situated near a nursery school and an existing centre for minors.

Military and police patrols remain in the historic centre, where national coach Luis de la Fuente and Rafael Louzán presented the World Cup trophy to President Juan Jesús Vivas. Meanwhile, the Red Cross provides daily food to migrants at Trampolín beach.
