Soldiers evacuated to Madrid after Ceuta assault

Two servicemen have been hospitalised in Madrid following an assault in Ceuta as the National Court halts a port migrant camp project.

Two soldiers have been evacuated from Ceuta and admitted to the Gómez Ulla Hospital in Madrid following an assault by immigrants. One of the servicemen has undergone surgery for his injuries. Defence Minister Margarita Robles visited the pair in hospital.

The National Court has temporarily halted the installation of a migrant camp at Ceuta's port following a request for precautionary measures by the SUP police union. Transport Minister Óscar Puente noted the court has two days to decide on these measures.

As Melilla marks its 529th anniversary, officials including Elma Saiz and Alberto Núñez Feijóo attended events at the Pedro de Estopiñán statue. Meanwhile, Catalan President Salvador Illa has called for institutional loyalty and judicial impartiality.
